Directions:
Bingo playing cards are created by collecting vocabulary words (which will be used as the bingo call words) from a children's book or story. To create the cards, do the following:
1. Set the margins at .5" and turn on invisibles.
2. Type "Vocabulary Bingo" on the
first line. Center and bold the text, enlarge the font to 36, and change the
font style to Comic Sans.
2. On the next line, type the name of the book or story from which the vocabulary
words were collected. Center and bold the text, change the font to 28, and the
remaining font style should be Comic Sans.
3. Return twice; then write three lines about the storyline/plot of the book.
Use the indent marker to hang the paragraph. Hit return twice more.
3. Insert a table that is 5-column by 5-row.
4. By selecting table>table properties and clicking on the tab labeled row,
you can specify the height of the row. 1.36" is a good height for the row.
5. Select table>table properties and click on the column tab. Set the column
width to 1.23".
6. Select table>table properties and click on the cell tab. Check to be sure
text is centered so that your bingo card will look like the sample.
7. Shade the center cell by selecting the text in the cell and using the table>table
properties command. Click on the table tab and choose the borders and shading
button at the bottom of the box. When the new dialog box appears, click on the
shading tab and make two selections: 1) select a color under the fill area and
2) select "cell" from the apply area.
8. Insert a picture into the center spot by using the Insert>Picture>Clipart
command. Once the picture is inserted, be sure to double-click on the picture,
click on the layout tab, and choose tight or square in the wrapping style to
change the picture from an inline graphic to a floating graphic. Reposition
the graphic until it fits into the center square. You may need to resize the
graphic by holding down the shift key and grabbing the upper right hand corner
of the graphic with the mouse and dragging the corner down towards the left
hand lower corner until the appropriate size is reached.
